life in Chicago

We've heard it's cold here, but we solved that by not going outside today! We had a fun homemade "Indian buffet" with friends last night, and we were out shopping the rest of the day, so today we're staying in. This afternoon we've been making pork bao - I love bao, but the only other time we made them they didn't rise very well. These ones look fantastic, despite having to overcome some oddities in the recipe (5 cups of water to 2 cups of flour to make dough? 2 hours to double the dough?), and I can't wait to eat them in just a few minutes.

We had some virtual money to spend at our local game store from the last game auction where we got rid of extra stuff, so yesterday we went out there and picked up $156 worth of minis for $6. Yay! One of the ones I got is a chick riding a wolf, which is my current D&D character, so Jon's putting it together for me for our next game in a few weeks.

Just wanted to throw a few movie recommendations out there. We just watched Stardust, which I remember Ian and Liz recommending, and we really enjoyed it as well. Such a fun, well-made, and simple movie. We also just saw Once and think you all should watch it as well, especially those of you who play guitar! It's got a nice homemade non-Hollywood feel to it, and the acting and singing are really enjoyable. Jon's been playing the songs since they've been in our heads.

Hope you all are doing well (those on vacation in Mexico and those not).
